This article is sort of a misnomer.  Not much if anything is getting "cheaper", it's just not going up as fast is it was in the past couple years.  Gas has been bouncing around, 2 weeks back, it went up 50 cents/gallon, this week it dropped 20 cents, next week probably on the uptick..  Note 4 out of the 5  items mentioned, are tied to "energies" too.  Energies are tied in with everything, as items do have to be transported, which requires fuel.  This is the result when energy policies are tinkered with.

Noted this evening, Franks Hot Sauce went up from 3.79 a few weeks back to $4.19.  When items go up to a certain point, I just do without things I enjoyed, & some items I have to bite the bullet.

Do also take into consideration, many IRA's, 401's had tanked a few years back, while they have somewhat recovered to where they were, your money is now worth far less.

Shrinkflation... we can go on.

Sheetz sent me 20 cents off gallon a few months back, then more recently 20 cents off for my Birthday, which expired by the time I read the mail, but clicking on the link said it added the promotion to my account.  I have the little card, but you seem to need a phone to use any of their promotions.

I had 250 spendable points, now says 0 on the e-mails.

When I don't understand something, I don't use it.

(3/29/24) @Tempest332 , I ONLY gas up at the SAME Sheetz. I threw out their "card" I use to have [you buy stuff in the store = points, I NEVER do]. I NO longer take the OTHER OLD LADY (2006 Hyundai Elantra) on Road Trips = NO more "random" Gas Stations. I keep her tank FULL and "gas up" [like I need to do next week] when her tank is 3/4 full. For 2 reasons. Winter, to prevent gas freezing and all year - for those famous "detours" around/up/down the mountains when I encounter an accident ON MY REGULAR ROUTE [the main road] and folks will let me do an u-turn.  ๐Ÿ‘ต

Occasionally bought beer there, but never used the card when doing that. I keep their card, along with a Speedway in each vehicle. Sheetz used to give one 3 cents off with the card regardless.

(3/29/24) @Tempest332 , took a few years for me to "sign up" for their CARD which did ZERO for me as the ONLY purchase has been gas. Finally UNSUBSCRIBED from their setup. Between them, Medicare and AARP - way TOO MANY EMAILS!!!  ๐Ÿ‘ต

Years ago I occasionally would get Paper coupons in the mail from Sheetz for a small sandwich, their delicious frozen coffees, to bring me in to buy gas, now just some promos come in my E-Mail with a QR code to scan with "my phone".

Been going to GetGo, occasionally they reward me with a dime off/gal on like every 4th visit.

I remember shopping with mom in the '70's, & she would give us the ad, & ask for suggestions what looks good for supper for the upcoming week from the ad.  Cereal, if it was on sale or mom had a coupon.   Reality check, - the regular price on a large box of Reese's Puffs @ my grocery chain is rapidly approaching $9 @ 8.79.  I don't pay over $2.50 for a "box of air" (to quote my mom from years ago), I'll shop my closeout stores, or Aldi's for that.

Don't have a Super Wal*Mart close, though my smaller store has a limited grocery section.  The travel to one @ the cost of gas negates that.  I have Aldi's, Meijers & Giant Eagle close by.

(2/23/24) Yes @Tempest332 , gas figures into my shopping these days. Could NEVER understand folks who go to SEVERAL stores even when gas was CHEAPER. I guess I am TOO LAZY to run after the "bargains" = IF Walmart does NOT have it = I DO NOT need it!!!  ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Stores are close enough, plus it gets me out of the house.  I'm certainly overpaying, I'll simply do without.

I cant figure out Sheetz rewards program. I get e-mails about getting money off gas but you have to use a "phone" now to get them, simply scanning your card doesn't do it.

(2/27/24) @Tempest332 , Sheetz is the ONLY place I get gas and ALWAYS the "same" location. This way IF I get "gas" with issues, I KNOW where it came from. Had that happen to me in Chicago and they had to take out all of my fuel system. A lot of UNDERGROUND storage tanks have SAND/DIRT/CLAY at bottom. And when the tank is LOW, customer gets it in their gas. So NOT trying to do that again. MAJOR $$$$  ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

@iLuvNature .... Since you brought that up about the gas, I always avoid getting gas if I see the truck filling, as it stirs the sediment at the bottom of the tank. Filters on the pumps & your vehicle should prevent problems, but you never know.

@Tempest332 I am NOT getting too excited as we are once again dealing with COVID (which NEVER left Virginia) and my NEXT Allstate Car Insurance Premium may skyrocket.

But RENEWED THIS MONTH (August 2024) and ONLY went up about $5.

Now BEFORE the 2020 PANDEMIC drama, it use to DECREASE as my 2006 Hyundai Elantra AGED.

Anyway, st.pid insisted on having INDOOR activities instead of enjoying the OUTDOORS = we back to what we thought was left behind.

My doctor (before Medicare change in doctors) had told me COVID will NEVER go away.

Will become like the FLU = requiring a YEARLY SHOT.

Gosh, I had THOUGHT we had arrived at that point this year 2024.

Anyway, I am back to asking for a MASK when I go see my doctor.

Will skip it for my 6-month DENTAL CLEANING next week and HOPE staff is wearing one.

Yes, I am FULLY VACCINATED but...

But the vehicles your "aging Elantra" shares the roads with are getting more expensive.

No Tickets since '91, no accidents, no claim since '93, my insurance rates have NEVER decreased!

Don't let anyone gaslight the situation, not much if anything is decreasing.

@Tempest332 , from what I have read, having a good driving record does NOT affect your rates. Nicole  ๐Ÿ‘ต
