promo codes

Can anyone tell me whether points earned on promo codes are subject to the daily earnings limit?  My memory is that until recently, they have not been.  We were able to earn the maximum points through activities, and then still get credit for a promo code.  But lately, when my wife and I both encountered difficulties with a code (we often get the message "We don't recognize that code. Please try again."), we were told by agents that the reason we did not get the points was because we had reached the earnings limit.  We pointed out that the error message said nothing about "maxed out for the day" or something like that, but the agents only repeat the line about the earnings limit.

And for what it's worth, that error message ("We don't recognize that code. Please try again.") happens almost always with the rewards newsletter codes.  We use two different laptops (Windows 10 and Windows 11), four different browsers (Firefox, Edge, Chrome and Brave), and we do all the right things (clearing the cache, refreshing the page, logging out and back in, etc) only to see the same message again.

Last thing: if I could explain this I would, but it's beyond me.  The Saturday webletter code always seems to work for us - and the 50 points get applied even when we've already earned the maximum.  The Tuesday and Friday newsletter codes seldom work - instead, we get "We don't recognize that code. Please try again."  And now, calls or chats to agents to try to get the promo code points don't work either, since agents tell us sorry, you've already maxed out, so no promo points.

It is confusing, but you are correct that you get the message "We don't recognize that code. Please try again" if you enter a code but it takes you over the allowed earned points for the day. It would be nice if they could give a better response, but that is a minor issue compared to all of the other issues with the rewards site.  Also the allowed points is different from the max points (for members, allowed points = 7950, max points = 7500), so you should be able to enter a 100 point promo code or a 50 point promo code even after earning your max points.  Yesterday I earned my 7500 max points and I was able to enter the 100 point promo code and get the points, so I'm not sure why it's not working for you.  But if you earn your max points and then try to enter the 500 point MAKEGOOD promo code, that won't work. Earning 7500 max points and then trying to get 500 more points would take you over the 7950 allowed points, so it won't let you do that.  You have to enter that promo code first, then do your activities to get your max points.  But it sounds like you are having problems with the 100 point promo codes.  It could be a problem with your account, but you might just want to enter the promo code before doing any activities and see if that works.
