BE YOUR REALID SELF - DEADLINE: MAY 07, 2025
After years and years of preparation, among the waves of disagreement on the policy - We are now at the Starting Line in using this form of identification for especially flying.
Could it be used for other things too?
Are you ready?
this whole thing is funny to me, I guess because I could care less. People have been putting off getting it for how many years? Every morning all the local news show the long lines. People acting like they have to have it on that day.
As for me, I don't need one, if my DL won't work than I don't need it. Never ever going to get on a plane and if the fed's need me then they can come to my house or let me in without one.
@papawofboo I have had mine forever and a day (years and years) - however, I didn’t have a hard time proving my identity like some folks who ran the gamut of name changes for various things and didn’t have hands on access to the papers they needed to substantiate their current name and how they got it thru the years.
Someday perhaps people will realize they have to keep up with their “papers” at least for convenience in getting hold of them.
Speaking of keeping up with one’s papers - I read the other day on a press release that SSA is working on a digital format of our Social Security card which we can use outside of the SSA . gov needs. That should help some people retain access to at least their number.
SSA.gov - 04/25/2025 - Social Security Introduces Secure Digital Access to Social Security Numbers
Maybe someday, our drivers license will also be in digital format on our smart phone OR
EVEN BETTER - embed our papers in us with a chip easily accessible with a scan. Then we will be considered chipped just like our pets.
Where do you want your chip?
I thought that the DL was being tried in some area?
As for the chip, I read long time ago that it could be done with the only problem being where to put it. If it was in your arm, and you lost that arm then everything about you was lost. No way to back it up?? Way over my head.
But what will stop it from happening is the churches. This would be so much like "the mark of the beast" that it's not happening.
Is it a choice in VA on whether or not you get a regular license or a REAL ID type? We don’t have a choice as to the type in my state - you must get the REAL ID and we have been doing it so long that there isn’t any big push to get it now as the flight date is upon us.
