I was IT before it was "IT"; this disturbed me more than any article I've read regarding scams and hacks:

I have so many relatives who believe most anything they read on FB, so this worries me tremendously; please read and share?

Quite a story!

After reading I had to immediately log in to Facebook and verify that I had two factor authentication set up for this app (which I did).

I don't log into FB very often and it's not a valuable resource to me but I would certainly be perturbed if my account was hijacked by someone who then pretended to be me, as happened to the fellow in that article.

The lesson is to use good passwords (which this fellow says he did) and use two factor authentication to secure your account:  see the Meta Account Center, select "Password and Security", then select "Two-factor authentication".
