WIfi

Government gives us a "raise" in Social Secuity but takes away more than the raise when canceling the ACP Wifi discount for low income families and seniors.  Lifeline Program has not raised their minimum requirements since 2021.  Now alot of seniors do not qualify.  I need my wifi do to ill health and no car to go to doctor appointments.  Buses are an option but then the weather is a factor.  What to do???

Please!  Anyone's help would be apprediated.

if you have a smartphone, you are already paying for internet, there should be a feature called "usb tethering" or "connection sharing" where you can share its internet access to your desktop via a usb cable... this would probably be sufficient for most basic internet needs.

USAC - Affordable Connectivity Program.gov

from the link -

The Affordable Connectivity Program is no longer accepting new applications or enrollments as of February 7, 2024. Consumers who qualified for the ACP benefit may be eligible for another Federal Communications Commission program called Lifeline, where qualified consumers can get up to $9.25 off the cost of phone, internet, or bundled services (up to $34.25 if they live on qualifying Tribal lands).

So would the $ 9.25 discount help?

There are a couple of different ways to be eligible for Lifeline.
