FUBO TV Offer

I got on email claiming to be from my Internet Provider (which is also a T.V. service provider) claiming that Disney Network was removing their channels from the provider's lineup.  In turn the I.P comany was offering a free FUBO T.V. Trial.  This one has me wondering if it is Phishing/Spam.  It passes all my legitimacy tests, but I don't subscribe to their T.V. service.

Just wondering if anybody else has seen this in the past few weeks.

Interesting how a simple question about a suspicious email developed into an examination of socio-cultural value structures and behaviors.  It seems the only thing left to do is plug the following:

Marjorie Kelly

https://marjoriekelly.org/

Edgar Villanueva

https://decolonizingwealth.com/

As people offering suggestions for possible solutions.

...for posterity's sake...

Thank you @Therapist4u & @nctarheel ,

Normally contacting the alleged source of the the email would be S.O.P., but something about this one prompted me to seek broader community feedback first.  I found some more info,  This article from Forbes (dated Sep 8, 2023) seemed to summarize the situation best.

Looking past all the marketing hype (PC for bs) it seems two entertainment conglomerates are in a pissin' match.  They're trying to sell access to a handful of channels that limit themselves to a non-broadcast distribution network for 70 or 75 dollars a month.

Not only are they in a "pissin' match", they both have a "urinary tract infection". It is eye-opening how many channels Disney has control of....FX, FXX, ESPN, SMITHSONIAN, ACC, and a bunch more.

By the way, those of you that do subscribe to Spectrum can get a $15 credit for the temporary loss of these channels so far. I don't know if that credit will be on-going or will increase if the impasse continues.

Oh well...tomorrow's 9/11...I'll probably just watch NOVA Earth From Space and hit the sack.  No need to rush into any decision...if there's any decision to be made at all...probably not...it's probably just an attempt to manufacture some hoop-la to try to get people to throw money in their direction.

Thanks again to both of you.

Hi Eric! @EricC227821T

You’re welcome! A friend sent me this info & link:

(September 9)

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/spectrum-arranges-free-fubo-trials-for...

“Seems that there's some sort of dispute, and it's mostly because ESPN is affected for most.”

“With the relationship between Charter Communications and Disney currently FUBAR, Charter has arranged for an alternative for its customers who want access to ESPN, ABC, and other Disney-owned channels. Spectrum has informed customers in the areas affected by the lingering carriage dispute of a free trial with its “preferred streaming partner,” Fubo TV. It has previously been reported that Spectrum has been directing disgruntled customers to Fubo, since Fubo offers only video and not the higher-margin wireless or broadband services that Charter provides to its customers. Charter basically is happy to lose video customers to Fubo if it means keeping them for other more profitable services. Time is definitely of the essence for Spectrum customers. Without an alternative, they won’t see Bills-Jets on Monday night.”

So this is obviously an ongoing & evolving story....& since it may affect you...then the most recent updates are important to keep up with!

Anyway... Take care!  ☮️ 🏖 ~Allen 🌈 🏝

Messages appeared on the missing Disney channels earlier today. Spectrum was making this offer but I found that there was an issue in accessing FUBO. Later in the day, the offer was missing from those messages.

HEY FOLKS......

DISNEY AND CHARTER COMMUNICATIONS (SPECTRUM) CAME TO AN AGREEMENT TODAY. NO SOONER DID THAT BECOME PUBLIC, THAT ALL THE DISNEY OWNED CHANNELS WERE BACK ON SPECTRUM.
