Helping a good friend in another state

I'm not sure where to start and thought this might be a good place.  I live in Iowa, I have a good friend who lives in Arizona [between Flagstaff & Phoenix in a small city].  She has limited means and given some of her health challenges probably should be looking into some sort of assisted living facility [mainly to assist with meds & housekeeping] - and she has to move by August 1st.  I want to get some suggestions for where she can turn  for assistance, advice, ideas.  And since I don't live there, I can't begin to know where in the government or other entities to start.  Much appreciation for any guidance.  Thanks.

Hi Victoria! What a good friend you are!

I'd guide her to the website, what used to be called Eldercare.gov and now is: https://eldercare.acl.gov/Public/Index.aspx.  She can or you can access the area agency on aging. Pick the brain of that person. Each county and state have different programs. Maybe she could stay at home with the help of a chore aide and meals on wheels, and that program might be free if her income is low enough. She may  have the ability to move into assisted living, but generally that is not covered by medicaid and is generally $4,000 and up per month. But the area agency on aging will guide you and her through all the eligibility criteria.

that's a start.

Keep asking. We're here.

Well, got this message and then its link did work == The URL you are trying to access is retiring. Please update your bookmarks to the new URL for Eldercare Locator, https://eldercare.acl.gov.   At least I'm going in the right direction.
