The article in the Jan/Feb 2023 of the AARP Bulletin had an article the suggested more stores are going to credit card only.

Ha:

In my neighborhood lots of stores are charging $3.25 to $3.75 if you use a credit card.

I live on Staten Island, NY. 

How is it in the rest of the country?

We don't have that in Midwest yet, but I am sure it is coming.  Banks always know how to make more money out of your money.
