Am I Crazy??
The current April/May 2026 cover photo of Eva Longoria is so airbrushed that it might as well have been taken 25 years ago. Is this supposed to be encouraging to the rest of us "normal" people leading "normal" lives. Come on. Are celebrities so afraid to show their faces? It's actually disgusting and I'm sick of it. It just adds to ageism and sexism is not in the least encouraging. Why did I put this under brain health? Because it drives me nuts. That's why.

I take umbrage with some of the facts in the Eva Longoria article in the April/May edition of the AARP Magazine. The article stated Ms. Longoria "...was among the first women to work at the army base in Corpus Christi, Texas." There was and is no army base in Corpus Christi, TX; the base is a NAVAL base. The US Army Depot is a tenant/occupant at the US Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. Secondly, right out of high school, I was awarded a civil service job at the naval base where I worked from 1966 through 1972. I am female. During my time at the navy base, I did NOT observe a scarcity of female civilian workers there. Additionally, there were female enlisted (military) workers at the base. This information is based on my experience, a whole decade before Ms. Longoria was even born. I wish the article's reporting had not diminished the size of the female workforce present at the US Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, TX nor the name of the base. I am hoping this post is reviewed by the article's reporter.

@RosaD708487 , No, this is the community discussion board, you posted to, not email address. The place to send letters to the editor of AARP Magazine is printed on “The Mail” section of the magazine , usually page 3. The address to send comments is there. Washington, DC address listed. Also has the email address if you wanted to email it.
I don’t agree with your opinion on this, btw…but do believe if you want them to know how you feel, writing to them where it says to send the letters is the place. Not sure why the rep told you on the community discussion board for AARP to see it. It’s just us members and the rest of the public here.

I'll reply not personally knowing this amazing woman but will write as an hospitality worker who shared many interactions with Ms Longorio over 25+ year, and then just a fan during her many experiences in Vegas after my retirement, she is naturally beautiful and truly blessed with youthful skin and hair. No way she has had any cosmetic surgery up to now; maybe later and that will be okay if SHE wants. But now, she's naturally beautiful, so get over whatever jealousy there is...

I was hoping for a discussion on how AARP might want to show celebrities how they are instead of slathering them with makeup and airbrushing them when they're trying to celebrate aging. I wasn't looking for a critique of my mental health, but I do appreciate your concern. I'm sure it was meant in earnest. Thank you.

Just watched the first episode Eva Longoria’s new series on France on CNN. Beautiful, vibrant, funny, smart woman. She looks exactly how she looks on the cover of the AARP magazine. I have no problem with the cover. And if any person who ages wants to do makeup, surgery, Botox, exercise, or anything to make them feel good, who am I or anyone to judge. The only message it sends to me on this cover is pure joy and happiness.
Edit to add something I just read in the AARP article,
Eva Longoria says, I don’t want to waste my days. We only have so many years left, How are we going to spend them?”
Exactly my point….too little time left to worry about if a magazine cover has been air brushed . The joy and happiness is what radiates, not if she’s made up, or the mag airbrushed cover. Live your best life how you want!

It’s such a glorious morning @GerardH918055 . Don’t read the article if you don’t want to. I appreciate and admire her work. No one is making you read it. Enjoy the day ahead. Life is too short.
