Newly Blind support for caregiver

Any tips for caregiver of a newly Blind adult?

Be patient and let them lead as much as possible. Ask before jumping in to help, and try to keep things consistent at home so they can build confidence. Losing sight is a huge adjustment, but with support, independence really can come back over time

The tips about using technology I think are especially useful! The site as a lot of other helpful tips.

1. Join the AARP Family Caregivers group on Facebook

2. Ask the opthalmology office for resources, particularly local ones

3. Check out the Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind: https://www.clb.org/

4. If this person needs to work, state and federally supported "vocational rehabilitation" services might be possible and helpful.
