AARP ARTICLES LACK RESEARCH AND APPROPRIATE INFORMATION

Headlining the web site today is an article about GROCERY CHAINS that offer discounts to seniors.

Not only are the writers for AARP lazy because this article has appeared previously, in its same form, months ago, but AARP'S researchers were remiss in leaving out one of the biggest grocers in the country from this repeat article JUST LIKE THE FIRST TIME THEY RAN THE ARTICLE.

They left out the PUBLIX GROCERY CHAIN. A chain with 1,367 locations, one of the top ten in volume, 90 years in business, 54.5 BILLION in sales and located in SEVEN states. And yes, they offer 5% discounts TO SENIORS on WEDNESDAYS.

AARP'S WRITING STAFF, BY VIRTUE OF REPEATING AN OLD ARTICLE, AND, ONCE AGAIN, LEAVING OUT A HUGE GROCERY CHAIN EVEN THOUGH THIS HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION, SHOWS HOW AMATEURISH THEIR WRITING STAFF IS. FAILING TO SHOW PUBLIX AS A SHOPPING DESTINATION WILL COST THE SENIOR POPULATION IN THOSE SEVEN STATES UNTOLD AMOUNTS OF MONEY.

I don't know why writers/ researchers are not listing Publix. It is a sizeable regional supermarket with an above average Deli department and Bakery, and always a number of nice BOGO's each week (and if you live in a state or select area where you don't need to buy the two for a BOGO - you can essentially buy one item for 50% off - nice ☑️  )

@OneDayMatisyahu @nctarheel , Publix is a major grocery outlet in Florida. I agree, it should be on any list that has places like Walmart.

I may be wrong, maybe they include places that pay them for a write up.

It is also becoming a major grocery chain here in North Carolina, directing competing with the biggest chain here, Harris Teeter.

Harris Teeter is owned by Kroger.

You may very well be right that AARP is involved with PAY FOR PLAY policies where Publix needs to PAD SOMEONE'S PALM before they are mentioned in an article penned by AARP.

Here in my side of Virginia @nctarheel , Kroger seems to be top dog.

AARP articles aim to provide useful information for older adults, but some readers feel they lack depth and robust research. This can happen when content is generalized to appeal to a broad audience or when articles prioritize accessibility over technical detail. If you find their information insufficient, consider cross-referencing with reputable sources like government health sites, medical journals, or specialized organizations for a more thorough understanding. 3RR Engaging directly with AARP to provide feedback may also help improve the quality of their content.

Your observation highlights a common issue with content aimed at broad audiences. Cross-referencing with credible sources is an excellent solution, and providing constructive feedback to AARP can foster improvement. It's a proactive approach

Both you, @DaceS389740, and @AzanA33590 are wrong in your analysis regarding my complaint about the laziness of AARP content writers.

You blame it on having to distribute content to broad audiences.

It is much simpler than that.

They left out a huge grocery chain in their origianal article and they had it brought to their attention. Subsequently, they ran the article again and AGAIN, left PUBLIX out of the mix.

That is pure laziness on their part.

The omission costs AARP members untold amounts of $$$$$.

Correctly including their omission on the second run of the article was what should have been done.
