"escalation" frustration

Anybody else notice that escalating an issue only serves to prolong your frustration. Been asking for help with the promise they'll get with you in 3-5 work days, then they don't, you call or chat and then it gets pushed back yet another 3-5 days, and so it continues for days on end....
