๐Ÿค” Seeking "feedback" on Walgreens - thanks!!!

[7/6/26] Redeemed for a card TODAY & now have 5 to go "try" my luck at the store down the hill from me in Virginia. ๐ŸŽ‰

NOT a Walgreens fan, but anything FREE gets my attention.

โžก๏ธ[*** Anyone used their AARP Rewards eGiftcards at a store (NOT online)? The ONLY "online" shopping I do is Amazon. Way TOO MUCH "hacking" going on.

โžก๏ธ[*** Any TIPS to share with this old lady?

Thanks All,

Nicole ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค—

I am a CVS old lady, I never go to Walgreens, it's out of the way for me and kind of in a not so nice area of town. I used to really like Walgreens years ago when they had monthly coupon books!

[7/7/26] Lol Maria @MariaK113398 , I use to be a CVS old lady too until I transferred my prescriptions to Kroger. Had to replace my car & had broken my ankle (black ice). Kroger was nearer to my hill here in Virginia. Was planning to switch back (when I found another vehicle May 2026 & ankle healed - 7 months of Uber & LOA van), but NOW gas is so high. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ  Maybe I will next year. ๐ŸคžMiss my CVS Pharmacy Crew. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Thanks for stopping by my friend.

If you have $20 or want to spend $20 with combo of gift cards and cash/credit card you can do an online order to pick up in store.  You would place your order and enter your gift cards plus any extra with another payment form.  If you have an account with them you might already have included your AARP number which entitles you to 20% off but only for non sale items, this is the first Tuesday of each month

You might also have other discounts which could reduce your cost more.  Doing it online means if you order items they donโ€™t have in stock and you check the right box, they would substitute with an equal item even if the item costs more.  But if you prefer to go in store and shop you wonโ€™t get the substitute deal.  I think they give you a window maybe 48 hours to pick up.  The 20% off in store is only good July 7 while the same 20% off for online orders applies to the entire week.  Donโ€™t quote me on the specifics but maybe an online you pick up order is different than an online they deliver offer.  The free delivery might have a higher spend like $35.  At least if you do the order online then pick it up, you know your gift cards have been accepted.  Some stores limit how many gift cards you can use on one transaction, not sure if Walgreens has parameters about this.  But you can also get online support if you are unsure of what they will do.  Another thing, they charge for bags and they donโ€™t know if you are buying a stick of gum or a 20 pound bag of rice, if you order 5 items they will charge you 5 bags.  But once you get to the store, before you pick it up, tell them you donโ€™t want any or only one bag or whatever.  They will credit you the bag charge.  But sometimes they credit the bag charge back to the gift card instead of your alternate payment method.  If you have their Walgreens club number and there is a refund they often credit it back to the refund instead of straight cash.  Also check the ads (no more in store ads, you need to check it online) for deals.  Could be a buy one get one or a buy one get half or another deal could be rewards pointsโ€”moot if you are not a member.  The other item they might offer is a bonus cash coupon offer with purchase of certain items.  You really have to pay attention to this one since they might give you a very short window like a few days vs two weeks to use it.  And they might not give it to you if you are ordering online.  But it could be worth it.  Also many times when you order online the price is usually less than when you buy in store.  If it is a sale item it is the same price or deal.  Good luck with your expedition.

Iโ€™ve been a member for years. Iโ€™ve always redeemed mine at the stores. I never had any issues redeeming my AARP gift cards at any store, including Walgreens!

Thatโ€™s really good @Rocky818 @that you have not had any problems with AARP gift cards BUT if they are ever offered again stay away from KFC

[Friday 7/24/26]

I am now up to 4 Walgreens "points only" cards & have STOPPED "redeeming" for them for now.

Lol, DIDNOT "pay attention" to what I was doing since joining the AARP Rewards Program May 2025 = redeem for whatever.

No more after ending up with 11 Bath & Body Works "points only" cards. Well after paying my 1st visit to the store down my hill here in Virginia "using" the AARP Rewards eGiftcards - NOT in a hurry to go back.

Geez, what a hot mess!!! Every corner was "crammed" with merchandise. I finally found a ONE wick candle I "liked" the smell of after WAY TOO much walking, looking & having the "annoying" cashier "asking" if I was finding what I needed.

Lol, then got to register & thankfully her boss was there to "rescue" me from a messed up transaction.

Now don't get me wrong, the cashier was VERY NICE, doing what she was trained to do. I just DONOT like them "hovering" over me.

Anyway, stopped "redeeming" for those for now. ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you Lucy @rednexsrus , Maria @MariaK113398 , Rocky @Rocky818 and BtW @BtW751689 for responding to my discussion here.

Now I need to make some time to "print" these 4 Walgreens cards out at the library. Then head to Walgreens. Not a shopper all my life, and so much more not in my old age. Lol, those DREADED "checkout" lines.

Take care my friends,

Nicole ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค—
