Is $100 hotel coupon a gimmick?

Hi everyone, I redeemed 160000 points for $100 hotel coupon a couple days ago. I tried to book a hotel room using a coupon and taking in consideration all restrictions associated with it. However every time when I tried to book a room I had a message the coupon could not be used. I contacted expedia-aarp but they weren't helpful. Does anyone else have difficulty with booking a room using a hotel coupon? Thank you

Hi @ElizavetaS25584, I'm sorry to hear you had issues redeeming the coupon. This coupon code discount applies only to stand-alone hotel bookings (not a hotel booking in combination with any other product or offering such as flight + hotel or flight + hotel + car) made online at the AARP Travel Center Powered by Expedia www.expedia-aarp.com that are pre-paid at the time of booking. Be sure to choose the "Pay Now" payment option. For further assistance, please send me a private message or use the "CHAT" feature located at the bottom of the page. Thank you! - Diana G.

I looked into getting this card but it had to be used by the end of this year. Did you make sure the 100 dollar hotel cost was before all taxes, fees, etc ? The T&C state the room cost has to be $100 before any of these fees are added.
