Tell us about yourself:
I am a 'Millennial Baby Boomer', originally from K. C, Ks., now living a re-imagined life as a new filmmaker after a 30 year career as a Registered Dietitian and Health Educator. I love writing and performing poetry as Sista C, and doing storytelling, or peace poetry/peace art activities with children in the greater Los Angeles area. Part of my post retirement life is spent teaching health and humanities subjects for the University of Phoenix (So Cal campuses). Since 2011 I have also been engaged in a "hands-on" Digital Cinema/ Video Production program at the Art Institute of CA, amidst millennials. This has enabled me to produce four short documentaries, a commercial, two TV segments and now, my thesis film, Sisters Out of the Box." It will be screened in North Hollywood in April 2016. I love being a grandmother of two boys who are sometimes my computer tech assistants. I have been inducted into Who's Who of Distinguished Alumnae; Who's Who of Entrepreneurs and Professionals, the International Society of Distinguished Poets, and awarded an Hon. PhD in religious humanities. The International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts-LA screened and recognized my portfolio film, "One Score and 17 Nights" at its 2014 festival. My B.S.. and M.A. degrees are from Wayne State University, Detroit. My volunteer activities include: hosting periodic poetry-art-music events; mentoring children for the annual International Peace Arts expo; hosting a Dr. M.L.King Holiday service activity and being a Let's Move Ambassador. ..
