Although I was born and raised as a Yankee, after 20 years my partner has given me "green card" status as a Southern. I've spent years as an advocate for our rights, then became a Professor of Victorian history, became disabled from breast cancer - it's ok now, and my retired partner and I spend our time going to concerts. Came out 42 years ago. I think my life has been pretty average despite my inability to be linear.
