Tell us about yourself:
I am a 59-year-old married woman living in the Los Angeles area. We have two grown daughters: one is a restauranteur in the Hamptons, NY (Calissa is the name of her gorgeous restaurant in Water Mill!) and the other is getting her Master's at the University of Cambridge in England. I am a voracious reader and have been teaching piano and writing piano instruction books for 32 years! In the last 2 months since Covid-19 hit our area, I have been teaching piano online using Facetime, Skype and Zoom. It is a great way to teach and to connect with my students while staying safe!
Area of knowledge and what I know well:
I have written a series of books called Upper Hands Piano: A Method for Adults 50+ to Spark the Mind, Heart and Soul. My website is: UpperHandsPiano.com. I also have a blog in which I teach piano skills and give away free sheet music every month: blog.UpperHandsPiano.com. Currently I am completing a series of videos so that students can learn to play the piano using online videos.
Certificates/Awards
I studied philosophy and music at UCLA in the late 70s/early 80s.
I was a film composer in the 1990s-2000s (see my website GailiSchoen.com)

I've been reading some great new novels featuring older adults. Most recently The Love Story of Missy Charmichael, and currently Mornings With Rosemary. Both are really good books, intelligent and filled with the wisdom and concerns of mature adults....
