On 9/20/2024 AARP issued an update to the AARP Now app which brings it up to version 4.0.7, and this seems to have fixed the issue for me.

Like the person in that thread, when I look at My Settings/Preferences, I do not have an option for private messenger.

Hello, not to drag this out, but when I click on the private message envelope icon in my profile information on the community page it says I do not have sufficient privileges to access private messages. I'm signed in to AARP, but is there something ...

Hello, perhaps you can look up the status of the ticket. Since it's been over a month I'm not expecting any help. And perhaps you could tell me how to send a private message, I'd prefer that to the call, text, or chat options.

I hope you get some resolution from AARP. I was contacted by AARP (based on a negative review I left in the Apple App Store for the new version of the AARP Now app), and on August 2 had a conversation with an AARP customer service rep who was sympat...
