I just looked in a paperback copy I have of Hawaiian names and their meanings and their English counterpart. I couldn't find your name in it. Maybe it's on the internet somewhere (everything else is!).

I had a Birman cat. Previous to getting him I had been to Hawaii a couple of times and fell in love with the island of Maui. Since "meow" kind of sounded like Maui I named him Maui. Both him and the island were beautiful.
