How can someone get scores in the 200,000s? I am pretty quick and cannot even hit 90,000. I know all these games are full of cheaters, but I would like to know how those scores are even possible. Am I doing something wrong or is it just another cheat...

Yes, Hurdle, of course. Getting the word on the first try happens occasionally yet rarely, but even you do not get five in a row on first guess.
