It would be hard to choose, as I love both.  However, I have the best of both worlds.  I live by the beach (in San Diego, CA) and enjoy visiting the seals, sea lions, dolphins, sea birds, etc.  I have a kayak and enjoy kayaking in the lakes and ocean...
