Personally, I am okay with freelancing in retirement but NOT before.

 

Why?

 

Benefits & a regular paycheck were important to the "younger" me.

True, true, the last 15 years I worked wasn't about getting ahead or moving up in company. I had already reached those levels. All I wanted was something to do, health insurance and paycheck not bounce. It was the easiest and least stressful of all my years of working. I tell the young folk at family meeting, don't kill yourself trying to be #1, way to much work and not much enjoyment in getting to that position.
