How to expedite long-overdue IRMAA Part D refund?

Hello, all:  When I retired at the end of May 2024, I was under 65, but my wife was not - she started Medicare Parts A, B, and D June 1, 2024. Because of my pre-retirement income, she was slapped with an IRMAA increase for both Parts B and D. We appealed and although it took til the end of 2024, SSA agreed to reset her IRMAA to zero

as of June 1, 2024. At the beginning of 2025, she received a refund for Part B IRMAA payments, but not for the Part D payments. Medicare advised us to ask SSA for a Medicare premium ledger audit to clear up the missing Part D refund. The audit has been in limbo at the Premium Service Center in Chicago since then. We have called regularly to check on the status to no avail. The issue has been escalated several times internally, the govt has shutdown and reopened, but the audit is still “in process.” The PSC cannot be reached directly, and the hotline/local-office seems unable to do anything further. We are lucky - it is not a large amount, but the principle of the thing bugs me. Does anyone on this forum have any ideas on how to get this resolved? Many thanks in advance.

[8/10/26] @db80166124 , I am sure one of our members will "surface" to respond at some point who may have "experienced" the same thing.

If it was ME, I would start with my Congress Person. In the past they had helped me get stuff "resolved" that involved the GOVERNMENT. 😉
