AARP, ALEC & Social Security

AARP was not on the list of organizations that supported the Bernie Sanders Social Security Expansion Bill. BTW none of them had joined ALEC (covertly) as a “partner” & provided ALEC monetary support (contrary to the wishes of almost all of the AARP membership). This is a sign that the people who made those decisions are carrying out the ALEC agenda (privatization) which is openly hostile to Social Security/Medicare. They repeat Cato Institute/Heritage Foundation talking points about “saving” & impending “bankruptcy”. Social Security has nothing to do w/the deficit & is not going bankrupt. It has been over “50 yrs since the last major expansions of Social Security/Medicare” (Nancy Altman) & “the major factor behind the modest projected funding shortfall is wage inequality” (Nancy Altman).
