Jonathan Roumie
Has anyone been contacted by someone they claim is Jonathan Roumie? A relative of mine is convinced that she is talking to via social media to Jonathan Roumie. She claims he sent her a pic of his driver's license and passport and that she has all his bank info. She says he has her helping her buy camera equipment from bank account he gave her info on from a company in China and that he can't do it because he is in Tanzania filming The Chosen. I know it's crazy but she is 72 and believes it fully. I feel she is being groomed. She gets angry with me when I try to talk to her about how unlikely this is.
The answer to your question is yes I’ve been contacted. Sent me picture f drivers license also. I’ve seen same scenario sent to others. Wanted a personal relationship. Would text he was not getting paid by chosen and didn’t have money to eat. They provided apartment and few benefits that he could barely survive. He is not married and has no children. He would ask me to send money so he could get something to eat. He asked me to invest $10,000 to put down on a house for the two of us as he wanted to marry me. He also asked me to get a VIP CARD so we could have a meet and greet. Your relative has most definitely or is most definitely been scammed. I just learned a really hard lesson my self when my son who is Deputy Attorney General, looked at my phone and saw telegram on there and was able to show me proof it was a scam. I know the hurt your relative is going through because it makes you physically ill to think someone can be so nice to you and fill a gap of loneliness while sucking the life out of you. This fake Jonathan is one sick dude. To admit is makes you feel gullible and stupid when you finally realize how you could have ever fallen for something like that. He even convinced me to open an account for him in Australia for a contract he had with Starr media productions. Guess what. That company never did exist and neither did the southwest gateway bank where he had an account in my name. He faked the whole thing to make it look so real that I was his third party payee and was authorized to accept money on his behalf. I signed a contract and had to send a copy of my drivers license. He even posed $120.00to this so called account to verify accuracy. Once verified he deposited $170,000 in. The asked me to withdraw $350,000 from it to pay for our new house. When I tried to withdraw I got a letter supposedly from the bank stating that I owed, I owed $49,000 in Australian taxes before a withdrawal could be made. I didn’t pay it but did put some down to show a willingness to pay the tax. . Then I stared getting threatening letters from the banker telling me I only had so many hours in which to pay the tax. He also posted a big countdown clock on the email to try to force me to pay taxes.

Now she thinks she talking to the original real Jonathan Roumie AND his mother. Also Kevin Costner is coming to get her in about a week and taking her to California and all his children are writing her too. It's like parasites attaching themselves to her. She's taking out a $50,000 loan because Kevin says he's starting his own management company and she can be a partner for that amount but she will etc it back. There is absolutely nothing I can say to convince her. She is so determined to live in lala land.

Update: she lost $50,000 to Kevin costner scammer and he did not come to get her. Now she's in love with Jonathan Roumie again and they are moving to Austin TX or Georgia. And he wants to payvoff the $50,000 bank loan she lost to Kevin Costner scammer. At this point she is a willing participant. She is 23 years older than real Jonathan Roumie. I can't stand how shallow and silly she has become.

An update to this...she has now lost approximately $80,000 to "Jonathan Roumie". She finally accepted that the one I wrote about above was fake..there was another one after that and thankfully a bank employee was watching out for her..but she is telling ne now she's talking to the "real" one and he even offered to put money in her bank account. She tells me I am judgmental because I told her she is NOT talking to Jonathan Roumie. I do not know what is wrong with hef!!

Very sad story.
Unfortunately, many people seem to fall prey to such scams. Maybe it is misdirected altruism, maybe it's greed, maybe just plain confusion. Older people may be targeted and may be susceptible to some scams. But younger age is likely no proof against failing for scams.
$80K? That sure takes my breath away!
Thank you for sharing this situation. It may help others who might have a family member in this situation; they can point to this as an example of how scams work.
