Fake Deloitte

I've been desperately trying to get a job. I was contacted by this Marketing Company that offered remote work from home, they seemed to promising. Gave me an account to try out and showed me how the work would be processed.  I started to make money but soon after that they asked for funds for bigger pay.  At first it was very small amounts, then just as quickly it got started the funds I was paid, had made, and the funds I had deposited they kept.  I have never experienced anything like this, ever.  I'm grief stricken and just can't find peace.  My husband is disabled, and this severely hurts our finances, the amount was in the thousands, our life savings. I have filled with several government agencies, filed a police report, with our bank which we never got our monies back.  I was able to contact the real Deloitte Company even spoke with their head fraud investigator sent him everything I had saved of the fraudulent company using their name, but nothing, they could not help us. Just want to bring this name "Deloitte" to everyone's attention there are horrible people using this name for evil purposes. Please pray for us and those that have lost their hard-working funds.

So sorry this happened to you. After something similar happened to me I installed Adless on my browser - it checks websites against a database of known scam and phishing sites automatically. If I click a link that goes to a fake bank site it blocks it before the page loads. Wish I'd had it sooner.

[8/9/26] (1)@Andrew849333 , seems you are promoting the "Adless" app? This is the 2nd discussion you are recommending the "Adless" app. (2) You are "responding" to a thread that is 2 YEARS OLD. Posted 09-11-2024 01:03 PM ET.

Apologies — I completely missed that this thread was from 2024, that's my mistake. I should also be upfront that I'm involved in building Adless, which I mentioned earlier without saying so. That was wrong of me and I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to run ads here; I was searching for people dealing with phishing sites because it's the problem I work on, and I got the tone wrong.

For anyone who does land here: Malwarebytes Browser Guard and Bitdefender TrafficLight both do phishing-site blocking well and are free, and uBlock Origin is the standard recommendation for ads and trackers. I'll leave my own thing out of it.

Happy for the mods to remove my earlier comments.

[8/9/26] @Andrew849333 , I would "suggest" you read the AARP Community Board Guidelines since you just "registered" yesterday to post in it. There is nothing wrong with "discussing" stuff, but "promoting" the ADLESS APP here is unethical & against the AARP Guidelines. Contact AARP to "pay" for Ad Space is my "suggestion".

Thank you very much for the Local News suggestion and will definitely try it.  I wanted to add that I even filled with Elderly Protection/Finanancial Abuse with our local office they can't do anything, but at least this will bring awareness to others. I am 61-year-old, and my husband is 67. I really appreciate your kind words.
