A possible new scam

Good day, all

Today my husband was at work and received a call with the name of the company he works for as the caller. Turns out it's a scam where the caller is representing that they are calling from Publisher's Clearing House and he just won $6 milliion dollars.  My husband was taken aback because the caller ID was showing someone calling from within the company. He knew immediately that it was a scam and he started smiling. The caller wanted to meet somewhere and that really got my husband's attention. The caller asked him why he was smiling and my husband asked the caller how did he know. The caller told him that he could see him.  This was a call on his cell phone.  My husband told the caller that he was smiling because he knew from the beginning that he doesn't even participate in PCH and why would he have to meet with him and his crew at all . Before he hung up he told the caller that this is a scam.  Has anyone else experienced a call like this?

I feel for you. Scammers can mirror your name, number, friends name, banks in your area, CVS, etc.  I no longer pick up the phone.  If it’s important there will be a message.  Answering let’s the scammer know there is a valid number and person to scam

You might want to check if your CCTV is hacked if you have one and update passwords for the cameras.

@Outlook10 , was this a Video Call = reason scammer could see your husband smiling? As far as I know, the Publisher's Clearing House Scam has been around for years. Take care, Nicole!

Yes, this scam has been around for years, @Outlook10 and @Winter2025VA . I jerk the callers around by copying their accent, telling them they are on a nationwide podcast............ (they usually hang up at this point). If they don't hang up, I have learned a couple of unsavory words in their language to call them, then they begin cursing me out, saying all sorts of garbage about my family, etc. I LOVE TO PISS THEM OFF. These calls, regardless of scam.....be it Publishers Clearing House, or I have a package at the border, or fake Amazon orders, or fake cable provider, or grandchild in distress....all come from the same country. They most likely come from the same source in that country as the hold music, and the "your call is important to us voice" is the same regardless of scam. Did I say, I LOVE TO PISS THESE GUYS OFF!!!!!

Good morning NC @nctarheel !!! I donot want them recording my voice for whatever OTHER scam they may have planned. I hang up. But as I have aged, now 67 - I let calls go to voicemail I DONOT recognize. IF person wants to hear from me = they need to leave a voicemail. My BLOCK LIST is full. Lol, NOT sure how many more numbers I can ADD. Take care my friend, Nicole!
