@MaVoltawrote:

One - Three Dog Night

"The Three Dog Night Story, 1964–1975 states that vocalist Danny Hutton's girlfriend, actress June Fairchild suggested the name after reading a magazine article about indigenous Australians, in which it was explained that on cold nights they would customarily sleep in a hole in the ground while embracing a dingo, a native species of feral dog. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and, if the night were freezing, it was a 'three dog night.'"

No offense to indigenous Australians or dingos, but when I first learned of that I laughed loud and long. Still cracks me up to this day.

Winter is Coming.

I read a copy of an news article from the 50's that accused Dave Brubeck of working for the Russians. They said all the the change-ups in time signatures in his songs was done to cause confusion and disorientation in teenagers. He was trying to weaken the mental capabilities of the youth in the United States! lol

I don't think that you can talk about unusual, complex rhythms without mentioning Willie Nelson. It's practically a trademark of his. He often changes key and rhythm mid-stream, or varies the rhythm he plays on guitar in contrast to what is sung, or sings to a different beat than he plays. Go to any Willie video, for any song, and it's never exactly the same. And good luck if singing a duet with Willie!
