Back in the 60's, we used to get a free album w/purchase from a local store. It was a compilation of Christmas music that ranged from symphony orchestras and opera singers to pop and folk singers. There were a few songs on those albums by The New Christy Minstrels that I learned and loved to sing along with. Well, I found them on iTunes the other day and now they are on my Christmas playlist. I started to play them and after all of these years, still remembered all of the lyrics! If you've never heard them, they are pretty little songs with beautiful harmonies.

Snow in the Streets / Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mine / Wassail, Wassail

If you like this kind of music, the entire Christmas albums are on YT.

My favorite sacred carol is - Silent Night
And this is the most beautiful rendition, and unique arrangement that I've ever heard. It's by Celtic singers, Steve McDonald and his daughter, Hollie Smith.

Also from the sacred carols list -
Little Drummer Boy
In the Bleak Midwinter
The First Noel
My favorite secular carol is - Carol of the Bells
Followed by -
The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole's version)
Sleigh Ride (Leroy Anderson)
Wassail Wassail All Over The Town (aka Gloucestshire Wassail)

Merry Christmas, everyone!

@BeatleloverKT wrote:Happy Christmas (War is over) by John Lennon. Absolutely no one can sing this song like him, even tho many have tried. Still miss him after all these years
So true!
In the non-traditional category, I would add these . . .

Pretty Paper - Willie Nelson
Wonderful Christmastime - Sir Paul

Almost forgot about this song until watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation last night (IMO the funniest Christmas movie of all time)
The Spirit of Christmas by Ray Charles (1985)
Such a beautiful song that captures so perfectly what Christmas is all about

First I have to say- great topic! Was thinking of starting this myself!
I have a lot of favorites but these are my stand outs-
My favorite is "It came upon a midnight clear" but it's by Hall&Oates.
Please listen if you haven't- it is simply beautiful.
I have three honorable mentions, in no particular order-
Santa Claus is comin' to town by the Boss (my sons fav growing up)
Christmas, Baby please come home by U2 (Bono kills this song)
Do they know it's Christmas? by Bandaid (an incredible collab imo)
🎄⛄️🎁🤶🏻
