"Free Fallin' " - Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers " - Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers
(His concert in 1999 at Irvine, CA was the first we actually went as a family; teenage daughters were amazed (and kinda amused by their parents)...

I love listening to "Servo" by the band Brian Jonestown Massacre. My favorite version is this particular live track, available on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwSXoTNVvNE, recorded live in 2007. I will listen to this on (automatic) repeat for multiple times. BJM is a 'modern' band founded around 1990 in San Francisco. Most members are eligible to be AARP members. They are way too young to have been around for the first wave of "The San Francisco Sound" of 1964-1970, but they have certainly learned this craft well.
I don't even need to listen to, or understand, the lyrics. I enjoy the vocals, their rhythm and tone (I enjoy a lot of non-English lyrics the same way). But it's the wall of sound, the guitars, bass, drums, et al, that carry me away on this track (it's 1967 SF driving rock and roll). I did some research on this phenomena awhile back and I am not the only one who enjoys this type of sound and not the only one who listens to songs on repeat. I especially like to do this when I am focused on a task.

@WebWiseWoman I remember PP&M well and faithfully. I hadn't heard of his passing, sad to hear of. ...off to blow the dust off some old LP's now.

Superstar, Carpenters
This beautiful song from 1971 is about a groupie
in love with a rocker after a one night stand. It was
written by Delaney&Bonnie&Leon Russell. Some
trivia: Karen did the vocals in one take with the
lyrics written on a napkin by Richard. She was a
supreme talent gone too soon. This is their best
and my favorite Carpenters song 🎶💜

A nice song. I'd forgotten it was Delaney & Bonnie (remember them and "Friends"?). I wasn't a Carpenters fan at the time but came to appreciate them.
One of the bizarre musical experiences is listening to the cover of this song by Sonic Youth, a much later band. The first time I listened (only a few years ago) I thought to myself "no, is that..., is that not...?" And it was. I've liked Sonic Youth for a long time but I don't like that cover. Though thinking about it, maybe its disturbing nature is more appropriate for the bizarro nature of the groupie's love infatuation.

Good morning!
I'm listening to some songs that I had listened to a lot but apparently (per YouTube) not listened to recently. Here are two nice ones.
Kokoroko - "Abusey Junction" - A soothing, relaxing song. Wikipedia describes the band as "London-based octet ...playing a fusion of jazz and Afrobeat". Nice stuff. listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSv04ylc6To
Nightmares On Wax - "You Wish" - flows nicely with the first track but a bit more up-tempo. Another London based act. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8MLqYNGKdI

Speaking of groups that wear masks when they play (I'm not talking about the Residents or Insane Clown Posse), these contemporary groups are really awesome. If you like Khruangbin you should check these out:
Glass Beams, a trio from Australia - instrumental https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMuTgStG8w0
Austin TV, a band from Mexico City that's been around a long time. This is more "rock" than is the first group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5la4Ld3hwhI&t=536s
Both tracks are instrumentals. Glass Beams tracks sometimes use vocalizations. Both have similar explanations for why they wear masks ("it's the music, not the personalities")
Edit: I have the impression that the masks of Austin TV bear a lot of influence from ancient cultures: Aztec, etc.
