Can’t believe we haven’t had this song topic before, but I did a search, and it came up empty. List any songs (title or lyrics) about friends or friendship, being a friend, etc. We should know a lot of these.

The song title that serves as the topic title was written by Burt Bacharach & Carole Bayer Sager. It was first recorded in 1982:

That’s What Friends Are For, Rod Stewart 

But the better known version was the one released in 1985 by Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Gladys Knight, and Stevie Wonder.. It was released as a charity single to raise money for AIDS research and awareness. The song hit #1 in 1986, and raised more than $3m. It also won a couple of Grammys, including Song Of The Year.
