SONG TITLES and SONGS about DISTANCES & TRAVEL

I'll try to get this topic started with these song titles about DISTANCES/TRAVELING   ...........

*Travelin' Man     Ricky Nelson   which made it to #1 in 1961

*I Ran (So Far Away)     Flock of Seagulls

For a different approach, songs about  DISTANCES/TRAVELING...........

*Walk Away Renee'     The Left Banke

*Ferry Across The Mersey     Gerry & The Pacemakers

Uh, I am sorry if I led off with songs which you may have wanted to post here. How about this....wait a while and then post it....or post it now ! You see, repetition is OKAY Man Wink

Please understand, there's lots of freedom and latitude with this topic. Be creative....let's have plenty of laughs and plenty of wows like:  "Wow, I wish I had thought of that one!!" "Wow, that's a good one!!

Great add. I have to believe this song was inspired by a short story by Ambrose Bierce that was made into a short film that was shown in this country as an episode of "The Twilight Zone": "An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge". The film won Best Short Subject at the Cannes Film Festival in 1962 and also won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Subject in 1963.

@LookOverYonder : Great Add ("The Best Way To Travel" - The Moody Blues) and you got me - I should have thought of this one.

Fun thing: For those who have never heard this (and for us who remember this), here it is. Listen to it using headphones or earbuds. Great experience. https://youtu.be/8Ma1bmBv_nc

One song leads to another. We all aware of this song, especially thanks to the movie:

Rocket Man - Sir Elton John

An earlier journey song by Sir Elton:

Where To, Now, Saint Peter?

@ripvanwinkle96 Thank you for mentioning Major Tom. Of course, his flight was 1st chronicled in:

Space Oddity - David Bowie

I did not know until recently that the single's release was timed so that it came out the day Apollo 11 left for the Moon.

@1968Hoya46  Great Add, and I am surprised I have not seen it before. (If it is in the thread, I am sorry I did not see it.) All of the service hymns should be here:

Army: As the Caissons Go Rolling Along

Navy: Anchors Away

Marines: From the Halls of Montezuma (to the Shores of Tripoli)

Coast Guard: Semper Paratus (Latin. It means Always Ready.)

Merchant Marine (Did you know they have one? I didn't.): Heave Ho, My Lads

Thank you all for your service.

I knew the man who wrote that song, Bob Crawford. In the '30s he was known as "The Flying Baritone." Had a great voice.

You just keep coming up with them. Crystal Gayle did a great job with it, too. I have and love both versions.

"The Mountains High" * Dick n' Dee Dee Thanks, ripvanwinkle96, for another great add. This song spoke to me because it was so unusual in structure. By the way, Dick and Dee Dee put out a rock and roll cookbook. Check it out!
