60's and 70's Rock

 Hi Everyone!

 First time on this forum.

As far as rock music goes, I listen a lot to 60's & 70's music. Music, I grew up with.

Big Bob Seger fan, along with Grand Funk, The Buckinghams, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, The Ides of March, The Grass Roots, Eagles and many more American acts.

Not into the English Invasion.

  I love 60’s and 70’s music as well.  Really enjoy listening to dedicated 60’s and 70’s stations on satellite radio in my car.  My absolute favorite song is Black Water by the Doobie Brothers.  When I hear that familiar open, I crank it up.

I like all types of music, really.  Current as well. And anything I can dance to is always a plus!  Music really can change one’s mood.

@JoeJ415665   You mentioning Harry Connick Jr. reminded me of the first time I heard his voice.  He sounded like Sinatra so much to me then.  I think now he’s grown into his own sound, but initially I did hear a similarity.

 Welcome to the forum @JoeJ415665 . Most of us are partial to that period of music. I also love the other eras. Mostly because many of them were influenced by the 60's and 70's groups. I just love music, new and old.

I remember back in January 1968 when I was on leave in the Army before I shipped out to South Korea. I was set up on a blind date to see Jim Morrison and the Doors at the Chicago Auditorium Theater. I didn't know that stage could hold that many beer cans!! 🤔

I don't deny anyone's like in music. In my opinion music is very personal. I find comfort in music when I'm down and when I'm happy, there aren't car windows soundproof enough from making me act like a complete fool of myself.

 I didn't care for American teens abandoning groups like The Beach Boys and Chicago and fainting at the site of The Fab Four. I have to confess that I didn't mind The Dave Clark Five that much.

Joe  @JoeJ415665 , I am partial to the 70's Reggae Music as I grew up on that living in Jamaica, West Indies. But as soon as my American dad shipped us all back to the US when I was 16, my luv of music EXPANDED. Still luved my Bob Marley, 😉 but added folks like the Bee Gees. Lol, could NOT get enough of my man John in Saturday Night Fever. Now in my OLD age, luv the "calmer" version of things. 🙄 I actually found finding myself liking the NEW release called "Vodka Cranberry" by Conan Gray. Released last year 2025. I do my daily indoor 30-minute walk to "various" versions of it. But that is a rare thing. Too young for the 60's music, but 70's involved LOTS of 45's and LP's. Had some on REPEAT on my Record Player much to the annoyance of my parents. 😅 Oh, forgot about Michael Jackson back then. Instead of doing my homework AFTER school in High School, I would listen to him. Had a HUGE CRUSH back then then lost it as he changed in ways I didnot like. Anyone else want to join Joe's @JoeJ415665 discussion? 🤔

My favorite group was popular from 1964 through 1969. They were the FUGS. They formed in a store that was previously a Kosher meat market. They had a satirical bent to their music. My favorite song of the time was titled "NOTHING". It was what we would call today "Alternative Music".

These guys were a bit too much for me. I do recall them. "Kill for Peace", right?Each to his/her own. Glad they bring you happy memories.

 The other day while watching some 60's/70's videos, it occurred to me that I couldn't recall ever seeing Michael and Janet Jackson together. Hmmmmm! 🤔
