Extra Credit Bloomin" Brand Card

I see that the Blooming' Brand Extra Credit gift card has changed from a points only redemption (42,500 pts) to a purchase redemption ($16 for a $20 card). Why the change in the middle of the month? It looks like there will be less cards for points only. I know what it was earlier in the month, since I redeemed points for 2 of the cards. Now it has changed. Seems a little underhanded to me.
