THERE SEEMS TO BE A GLITCH IN AARP’S DISCUSSION BOARDS

The discussion board, “ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY”, has seemed to disappear without warning from AARP. In the past, removal of discussion boards were announced, and reasonable points were forthcoming as to the purpose of the removal. But here, we just have a disappearance.

Do any of you out there have any idea why “ABOUT OUR COMMUNITY” disappeared?

Yeah, it must be some clean-up effort. 🤔

I can see it here: AARP Online Community and Discussion Forums - About Our Community - AARP Online Community  [read only]

Strange, it appears to be locked yet visible.

To be honest I don't understand any of these boards. I see post on here from as far back as 2017. That is just plain stupid. Plus nothing on here about sports, world news, and nary a word about the weather. People ask questions about SS, come on, as important as SS is, who in their right mind would take advice from a stranger on a web site. Talk about leaving yourself open to be scammed. So let me just cover it all. Spring training has started, anybody in here ever play baseball. The Pope is sick and Trump just made half the world mad. Biden was giving all kinds of stuff to a county for free, and that company had some kind of mineral that we were paying an arm and leg for. The weather is messing with my plants, they were coming up early and we got 3 inches of snow, anyone else have this happen?

[2/28/25] @papawofboo , I was chuckling as I read your post!!! I just started some seeds tonight indoors. Should be safe to plant outside here in Virginia in May. Spring today BUT a late Winter Storm may arrive.

I take my hat off to you, I have never and I mean never been able to grow anything from seed. I plant bulbs and that is what has me worrying now. I found some tulip bulbs on Amazon last year that I had never seen before, paid an arm and a leg for them. They had started to come up, we had one big snow, then a small one and now just cold this week and week after next. After that it looks like clear sailing, not sure me or the bulbs will make it to the clear sailing. By then the bedding plants and hanging baskets will be in the shops. Good luck with your seedings. By the way, are they vegies or flowers?

[3/2/25] Thanks @papawofboo and good luck with your bulbs!!! Mine are flowers, veggies take too much work.  🙄  But I should grow my broccoli instead of dealing with Walmart's version. Maybe NEXT year. Thought it would be easy but after researching, nope.

Talk about luck. Last year I came up with one extra flower bulb. There was a tree stump with a hole in it, I said what the heck. Put it in hold, added some dirt and splashed it with water. After one snow of 7 inches, another of 3 inches and a week where the high was in the low 20's, the thing came up.🌷

[3/11/25] That is totally AWESOME @papawofboo !!!  🙃

I am "thinking" of what bulbs to do. So NOT into any "high" maintenance ones.  🙄

A few of Impatience seeds came up yesterday. Lol, now to see IF anymore do. Packet says 10 days and those hit the 10 days.

Want to do a HANGING plant from seed. Again, NO "high" maintenance.

Take care,

Nicole  👵

[2/28/25] @nctarheel , AARP deleted several forums I guess to clean up.  🙄

Bingo, Late Life Divorce, Housing and as you mentioned - About Our Community.

Now I agree Bingo & Late Life Divorce forums were DEAD. Glad they deleted them  Maybe freeing up memory may help other areas on this site.  👍

Now Housing, I disagree on. Way too many Seniors looking for Old Life Housing.

About Our Community, I feel this was to eliminate the ranting.

Who knows... 👵
