Misleading renewal email

I got this email saying I could renew for $12 per year but when I clicked on the link it took me to the regular $16 a year renewal page with no mention of this promo.

What scam is this?

@CrazyBirdLady Thanks for reaching out! The discounted rate of $12 for the first year of automatic renewal is only available to members who have not already taken advantage of the offer. Unfortunately, since the membership was signed up for the automatic renewal option last year for $12, it is ineligible for that renewal rate. You are welcome to renew using the link if you'd like to take advantage of the gift offer. I'm always here to help if there's anything I can do.
