Even though medical marijuana is legal in more than 40 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Medicare doesnโ€™t cover it because federal law classifies marijuana as an illegal, Schedule 1 controlled substance.
