Yes indeed! I started watching You Tube videos put forth by researchers and physicians who treat metabolic diseases and the biggest eye-opener is that diabetes is caused by sugar and carbohydrate overload.
It is possible to lower your blood glucose and cure a fatty liver by reducing total sugar and carbohydrate daily intake, curing metabolic disease. But drug companies donโt want you to know that.
Check out Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Eric Westman and Dr. Ken Berry. Through them Iโve lost 40 pounds, lowered my A1c, and gone off diabetes and high blood pressure medicine.
Unfortunately, diabetes is caused by more than sugar or carbohydrate overload. I do agree that diet is extremely important and those with limited income often times rely on energy dense, and carb loaded foods which have low nutrional value but there are other causes such as genetics, stress, medications, and environmental issues like air pollution. After age 65 I began to worry about my glucose levels, after all my mother and all ten or her siblings of Latin descent had either diabetes or had died of its complications. I finally received the news I dreaded. But careful review of my past medical records showed many years prior an adrenal gland tumor was found on an MRI. By this time my other adrenal gland and pituitary gland had stopped working. After 15 years of complaining of various problems someone took me seriously. The tumor was removed, and my blood sugars dropped to normal, my glaucoma readings decreased to the average range, and my hair stopped falling out. So why the detailed story - I don't think my story stands alone. Realize the many other causes of diabetes and not be satisfied with being basically told it is your fault because you are elderly and not in your best shape - there are many other reasons.
