Think in “unlocks,” not just “matches.” When multiple pairs are available, prioritize the match that releases a tile that’s currently trapped under a stack or pinned in the middle of the layout. If you’re playing untimed, use that freedom to plan two moves ahead: after you remove a pair, which new tiles will be exposed? Try to keep the board balanced. Clearing one side completely while the other stays stacked can leave you with isolated tiles that never become playable.
