๐ MAY 2024 Event Descriptions ๐
[a] Registration REQUIRED - registration links posted.
[b] Sessions.
11:30 a.m. ET.
10:30 a.m. CT.
9:30 a.m. MT.
8:30 a.m. PT.
[c] Duration: 90 Minutes.
When youโre grieving, itโs easy to get stuck in your pain and remain bitter, angry or depressed. But if you can find meaning in even the most senseless loss, you can find ways to live a good and someday even joyful life, enriched by the lessons and love of the person who died.
This webinar on finding meaning after loss will share insights on how to go about it:
Why the six stages of grief were never meant to be linear.
What โmeaning makingโ is, and why itโs key to recovery from grief.
How meaning making can help you remember the person who died with more love than pain.
The keys to finding acceptance and moving into meaning making.โฏ
Why post-traumatic growth is an important part of meaning making.
The presentation is based on โFinding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief,โ by David Kessler, whose youngest son died suddenly at age 21. He co-authored โOn Grief and Grievingโโฏand โLife Lessonsโโฏwith Elisabeth Kรผbler-Ross. Visit his website for more information on grief.
After a significant loss, itโs common to feel like weโre going crazy. Weโre in shock and disoriented, and time seems out of whack. Our moods swing wildly.
But youโre not going crazy - youโre grieving. During this webinar, weโll examine six steps for surviving loss:
Know that your intense grief is normal and necessary.
Do whatever you need to do to feel safe and comfortable.
Acknowledge the illusion of having control
Tell your story.
Embrace your spirituality.
Step toward truly living even as you grieve
The discussion is based on โYouโre Not Crazy โ You Are Grieving: The Six Steps for Surviving Lossโ by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition and a member of the faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
About the Event.
Itโs normal to experience anxiety when grieving because loss shakes our sense of security in the present and often raises worries about the future.โฏWhatโs more, the pain weโre feeling compounds our anxiety.
During this webinar youโll learn:
How to understand your anxiety and fears after loss โ and their purpose.
Why soothing your fears is essential.
How continuous anxiety is bad for your health.โฏ
Ways to comfort and distract yourself.
How expressing your fears is the key to taming them.
This webinar is based on โThe Anxiety of Grief โ How to Understand, Soothe, and Express Your Fears After Lossโ by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D. He is the director of the Center for Loss and Life Transition and is on the faculty at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
