Preparing for the New AARP Online Community

Preparing for the New AARP Online Community

The launch of the new AARP Online Community is just around the corner! To help make the transition as smooth as possible, here are a few things to keep in mind before launch.

Continue Enjoying the Community

You can continue to browse, read, and participate in the Online Community as you do today.

Any new posts, replies, or kudos added to the current community after August 5 at 11:59 p.m. ET will not transfer to the new AARP Online Community.

Know What Will Transfer

Most discussions, posts, replies, kudos, your username, profile information, and profile photos will be transferred to the new community. Topics that haven't had any activity in the past three years have been archived and will not be transferred.

Be Ready for Launch

When the new community launches, you'll:

  • Sign in using your existing AARP account and username.
  • See an updated look and feel.
  • Find simplified community categories.
  • Notice that Friends have become Followers, and you'll be able to see who is following you.
  • Receive an updated community rank.

A few items won't transfer, including:

  • Topic and category subscriptions
  • Favorites and notification preferences
  • Private messages
  • Photo albums and the photos stored in them
  • Unpublished drafts

We're Here to Help

We'll continue sharing updates throughout the transition and provide resources to help you every step of the way.

Thank you for being an important part of the AARP Online Community. We look forward to welcoming you to the new community soon.

Recognized Social Butterfly

Teri, thank you again for being a great part of our AARP Community experience!

One question, can we please have a date so we can prepare for possible outages  that might occur (reference 25-Jan-2025 "upgrade" 3 day outage)?

We will communicate this in the forum soon!
