EVERYTHING THAT AFFECTS THE LIFE OF SENIORS IS A DISCUSSION POINT IN TODAY'S POLITICAL WORLD, AND YET, THIS WEB SITE, UNLIKE MOST OTHER WEB SITES, PUNISHES ITS' MEMBERS FOR SUCH DISCUSSIONS.
As one of supposedly 38,000,000 members, I would appreciate it if AARP would reverse its' poorly thought out policy of terminating any political discussion on its' forums. It stifles most discussion about all the things that affect the life of a senior and most of all........
MAKES THIS SITE ONE OF THE MOST BORING SOCIAL MEDIA SITES ON THE INTERNET.
@nctarheel I have to agree with you on this one. I believe it's a good thing to have intelligent, civil discussions on issues that matter to seniors. Unfortunately, I don't think AARP has evolved to a place that they are willing to allow unbiased, nonpartisan discussion in compliance with the views of all of their membership. (It's clear that there is still biased and propaganda leanings with all the deactivation of comments on the main website.) Amazing we seniors cannot be treated as the intelligent, still thinking adults we are. I'm sure we were all taught critical thinking in our school years.

It is impossible to discuss the STATE OF THE UNION without mentioning politics.
To measles outbreaks.
To the de-stabilization of the world.
To the sales of sneakers, cologne, and Bibles.
To appointment of heads of agencies without one bit of experience in the field.
To the ruination of a republic that has weathered multiple wars including a break-up of the nation.
Gag orders are counter-productive.
@Winter2025VA wrote:@nctarheel , so you are saying there is NO way for you to discuss these topics without mentioning the president's name or his nicknames?
There is no way to discuss any of those subjects without discussing their source.
