Automataic 2% increase in Social Security for 2021 due to covid virus

There was a mention  by a congressman about automatically giving retirees on SS and automatic increase of 2% for 2021  due to increase in food and medical prices in 2020. What congress people have to get involved to get this done.... This is necessary for the aging population
