AARP Hearing Center
I wanted to ask questions and provide some thoughts on advocacy for social security (e.g. the bill of rights). But I could not find an advocacy topic or forum to respond to. I surmise what is most important to AARP members, and most impactful to members, is our Social Security and Medicare benefits, yet no forum for that exists. Where do I provide my input for advocacy. How does AARP get our thoughts and priorities in order to shape advocacy? Inputs from members on our priorities and ideas on solutions should be front and center. Maybe I missed something in all the entertainment and rental cars and discount stuff populating the AARP site and my email inbox.
I am thinking the same thing because I think a lot of AARP members would love to know especially if they receive Social Security benefits that they have about 74 more checks before their benefits are cut by 23%. And that’s because for 40 years none of the Presidents did anything to make sure the Social Security Trust Fund was secure. However Congressman Larsen from Connecticut has introduced for 14 years some for of legislation to address it and he currently has H.R. 9519 Social Security 2100 Act on board. Everybody should read it and get behind it and ask your representatives where they stand on it.
