LENGTHY advertising before games

WHAT is going on with the advertising before the games?????!!!! I donโ€™t mind seeing occasional ads, even as a member.  But, now, we have a 2:28 minute long ad for a movie????  How long does AARP expect dues-paying members who are signed in to sit and wait before the game starts??  And, some of the ads are beyond strange.  I had to get up in the middle of the night recently to wait on a family member whose flight had been delayed, so I was going to play games on the AARP site.  I got a commercial with a strange โ€œNigerian princeโ€ sitting in a chair with cash all over the floor at his feet trying to talk people into doing something - I was never clear exactly what it was, but I doubt seriously he was on the up and up. I know AARP doesnโ€™t endorse the products that are advertised, but that ad convinced me there  is NO level of quality control over what people see on their website.  Really frustrated.

If you want people to pay attention to your advertising, subjecting them to 2+ minute commercials is NOT THE WAY TO DO IT,

We pay dues, I don't think we should have to put up with the ads, but we do. What really chaps me is if you play the same game again, you have to watch another ad.

Papaw @papawofboo , have you tried the AdBlocker Plus @nctarheel mentions in this discussion?  ๐Ÿค”  I DO NOT play the AARP games so have NO idea IF it works. But he swears by it, so maybe worth a try. Take care, Nicole  ๐Ÿ‘ต

My suggestion is to load AdBlocker Plus to the browser you use to visit AARP.

It is free and easy to load(I am as computer challenged as they come) and I didn't have a problem.

It rid me of all the ads on AARP'S gaming platform.

I, too, was getting some strange ads several years ago when I visited AARP'S gaming platform. One was for PETA, narrated by Paul McCartney, with pictures of dead animals, one was for Tata Motors in India, and one looked like it was homemade by a family that ran a business.

My assumption was that AARP'S gaming platform had been hacked at that time.

Anyway, the AdBlocker Plus does what it says and enables me to play game after game without interruption.
