What is Mother’s Day Mahjong Solitaire?

Mother’s Day Mahjong Solitaire is a themed version of classic Mahjong Solitaire. You match identical pairs of open tiles to remove them from the board and try to clear the entire layout.

Is this the same as traditional 4-player Mahjong?

Not quite. Traditional Mahjong is a multiplayer tabletop game with drawing and discarding tiles. Mahjong solitaire is a single-player puzzle where you remove matching pairs from a stacked layout.

How do I play Mother’s Day Mahjong Solitaire?

Select an open tile, then select another tile with the exact same design that is also open. If the match is valid, the pair disappears. Keep matching until you clear the board—or until there are no valid moves left.

What makes a tile ‘open’ or playable?

A tile is playable when it’s not covered by another tile and has at least one free side (left or right) that isn’t blocked by a neighboring tile.

How do I win?

You win by removing every tile from the board, meaning you’ve successfully matched all tiles into pairs.

What happens if there are no more moves?

If no valid matches remain, the round ends. At that point you can start a new game and try a different approach, or use your hints to help out.

Does this game have an untimed mode?

Yes. Mother’s Day Mahjong Solitaire includes an untimed mode, so you can play at a relaxed pace without a countdown.

Do I need to download anything to play?

No. It’s a browser-based game, so you can jump right in without installing anything.

Can I play on my phone or tablet?

You can play in a modern mobile browser.

Does the game have hints?

Yes, but try using hints as a last resort. Sometimes there are multiple matches, and the hint might not be the one that opens up the board best.

How should I choose between two possible matches?

When you have options, pick the match that frees up the most tiles. A good rule of thumb: remove tiles that are “holding down” a stack or blocking a long run along the side—those moves tend to create new playable tiles quickly.

What’s the best strategy in untimed mode?

Use untimed mode to plan. Before you match, look for where each tile appears elsewhere on the board. If matching one pair would trap a “lonely” tile with no future partner, choose a different match first.

Why won’t two tiles that look similar match?

For a match, tiles need to be identical in design.
