FAQ Crosswordling

What is Crosswordling?

Crosswordling is a word game that combines the green, yellow, and gray letters of Wordle with a crossword puzzle. The crossword is filled out, but some letters are in the wrong places. Unscramble them to beat the level!

What is the goal of the game?

The goal of the game is to complete each level, moving pairs of letters around until every letter in the crossword is green – the correct letter in the correct spot.

When do I beat a level?
Each level will present you with a crossword where the letters are all out of order. Green letters are the correct letter in the correct place; yellow letters are the correct letter in the wrong place; and gray letters are incorrect letters in the wrong places. When all letters are green, the crossword is completely fixed, and the level ends.

How do I play once I begin a level?

To unscramble letters, simply click one letter – it will turn a shade of blue – and then click the letter you’d like to swap it with. Those letters will switch positions, and their colors will change depending on if they’re in the correct spots.

Can I lose?

Yes. Each level has a certain number of moves available, which you can see at the top of the screen. Complete the level before running out of moves, or you lose a heart.

What happens when I lose a heart?

You get three lives, or hearts. If you run out of moves, you lose a heart but can retry the level you’re on. If you run out of all three hearts, you’ll need to wait for them to recharge. A heart takes 15 minutes to recharge after you lose it.

Is there anything I can do if I’m about to lose a heart?

Yes. When you run out of moves, a popup will ask you if you’d like to purchase more moves to finish the puzzle. You can use coins or watch an ad to receive several more moves.

How I get coins?

You get coins by beating levels, or by using the daily spin.

What’s the daily spin?

On the main menu screen of the game, there is a wheel icon. Each day, you can click this and spin the wheel to get a random prize like coins or power ups. You can watch an ad to access more spins after your free daily spin.

What are power ups?

The game has two power ups, both of which are available during each level:

  1. Undo, which allows you to take back your last move. This is a great tool if you make a move that results in two gray letters that you didn’t expect.
  2. Auto Swap, which automatically moves two letters, with at least one ending up in the correct place.

You will start with three of each of these power ups. Once you run out, you can get more by watching an ad (click on the power up to launch it). You can also potentially get more power ups by spinning the wheel on the game’s menu page. You get one free spin a day, which could lead to coins, powerups, or a special gift, and can get more spins by watching an ad.

Are there any other bonuses I can get?

Yes. Every level you beat will reward you with Progress Points – each extra remaining move equals one point. Those points accumulate over time, and once you hit 24, you’ll get special rewards!

What is the difference between the game modes in Crosswordling?

The two game modes in Crosswordling are Endless and Daily Challenge. Endless mode presents you with just that – endless levels to tackle. The Daily Challenge changes each day. As you beat more Daily Challenges, a special progress bar on the Daily Challenge page will go up. Keep winning to receive special rewards.

Can I turn off the sound and music in Crosswordling?

Yes. Click the gear icon at the top of the screen and you can toggle sound and music on and off.

Can I change the language in Crosswordling?

Yes. Click the gear icon at the top of the screen to choose your language.

The ads for these games are horrible! Some of the ads are 15 minutes long. This is getting very annoying and I am seriously considering not renewing my aarp membership. I think paying members should not have to suffer through these ads. I would never purchase anything shown in these ads.

I agree the ads are terrible.  There is so much violence in the ads.
