Join AARP Illinois for a soothing virtual event where you’ll create stovetop potpourri using natural ingredients like citrus, herbs and spices.

These simple simmer pots are perfect for filling your home with cozy, seasonal scents—no chemicals, just comfort.

Supplies:

(1) Fresh fruits like apples, oranges, pomegranate.

(2) Assorted spices like cinnamon, ginger, clove, star anise, nutmeg.

(3) Optional ingredients like maple syrup or extract or molasses.

(4) A pot.

(5) Water or cider.

(6) Flame.

Come to our calming and fun online painting class and get inspired! Painting can promote stress relief, help bolster memory and encourage creative growth.

This virtual painting class offers a wonderful way to unwind, stretch your creative abilities and try something new. Our professional instructor will walk us through the process step by step. No painting experience is required.

This class’s inspiration is “Golden Leaves, Gentle Drops.” *See the inspiration image below, which will also be in the confirmation and reminder emails.

Materials you will need:

(1) A canvas, canvas board or acrylic paper, any size. Recommended: 9" x 12" or 11" x 14".

(2) Acrylic paints: red, blue, yellow, white, green and black.

(3) 3-5 brushes, from fine to large.

(4) A cup of water to rinse your brushes.

(5) A small plate to mix colors.

(6) A paper towel to clean up any messes.

(7) Easel (optional).
