We are going caroling this Sunday to the local Nursing home. We visit for most of the afternoon too. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve done it for the past four years, and it’s the only recent experience I’ve had going Christmas caroling. Way back when I was in High School, my friends and I went caroling door to door in our neighborhood every year, and, as a Junior Girl Scout, we too went caroling to Nursing Homes and hospitals.
I also remember that, as a young child, family Christmas gatherings always involved singing carols around the piano…..as I grew older, this tradition seemed to just fade away….
They do in my little coastline town in Maine.. A group goes thru downtown and as you say ,makes the rounds ,and also visits various facilities in the area.. Its not totally gone, just subdued a bit but my little town still clings to some old and treasured traditions..
