Honored Social Butterfly

[Tuesday 5/13/25]

Before retiring in 2020, I DIDNOT give all this a thought.

Thankful NOW I did about 2 years ago and grateful my LOA (Local Office of Aging) has an Attorney who helps out.

He has his practice, but makes time to meet with us at the LOA Office.

Then the "lightbulb" in my old head went on this year 2025 that stuff happens. Such as a fire. Hopefully NOT for me, but ordered a FIREPROOF bag from Amazon.

Geez, NEVER thought of all this when I was still working. My daughter in her 30's, has. Smart young lady.  ๐Ÿ‘

Our luv ones will be GRIEVING, so it is an act of LUV to get things set up ahead of time. One NEVER knows when our LAST day/night will be.

Take care,

Nicole  ๐Ÿ‘ต  (Friends & Family Forum)

Recognized Social Butterfly

Nicole, thanks for this important post. But, it's not just for we elders; my bro-in-law was stricken suddenly by heart-related issue; a father of 3 (1 minor with my sis), a business owner, an ex-husband, a son and grandson, as well as my best friend...

When my sis and I spoke, she advised they'd never discussed "last wishes" or legalities, although they shared legal representatives' contact information (she also owns a business).

She allowed / requested his Father be the Medical POA (his Mother passed before him), since there wasn't one in place...

These decisions sometimes cannot be made without much consternation, no matter the relationships or ages. It's something that we all still feel over a decade later...

Any "adult", no matter their age, should consider a few simple legalities; many can be made with online forms (based on state law). It's honestly not for us, but for those who are left when we are gone.

Thanks, again, for this important topic, Nicole!
